It's all about being tactical and thinking several steps ahead and to have contingency plans in case things go sideways. If you enjoyed combat in DD and the vast amount of options and strategies it provides, then here it's the same. The outside the combat parts are quite different - you collect body parts, craft minions out of them, improve the graveyard buildings for better bonuses, and navigate through one big dungeon rather than individual dungeon runs. But I also recommend you learn how to manually save the game via Windows Explorer in order to somewhat counter the perma-lose mechanic.Īs a huge fan of DD, this game appealed to exactly what I loved about DD's combat system. In most ways Iratus is much better than DD, except for the perma-lose mechanic in Iratus, which is much worse than DD in that particular regard. (I think this is a horrible mechanic that should be patched out of the game). in Iratus, you permanently lose all your progress in your campaign and get a game over screen if you have no resources left with which to make new soldiers. in Iratus, you don't have to manage light/darkness and/or food in Iratus, your soldiers don't get afflicted with annoying vices in Iratus, you don't have to pick up useless trinkets that clutter up your inventory in Iratus, your soldiers don't/can't take stress damage and/or go insane and/or die of heart attacks in Iratus, you don't/can't manually walk around the Dungeon floors What's the main differences between Iratus and DD?: The game itself even says before the title screen that it's a hardcore game. At least that is so if you are not playing on Cakewalk mode, which I never played. It's a steep learning curve and very hardcore difficulty.
